Indian Founder Praises Egyptian Talent: Superior to Regional Peers

In a new indication of the rising international standing of Egyptian technological competencies, a post by the founder of an Indian startup sparked widespread debate across social media platforms.

He unprecedentedly praised the caliber of engineering and computer science graduates and students in Egypt, considering them “far better than most Indians” in terms of practical skills and readiness for the job market.

The founder, who first shared his experience on Reddit and later on the widely circulated Hindustan Times website, expressed his frustration after conducting over 150 interviews with potential interns in India.

He noted a significant gap between academic education and the actual work skills of graduates.

However, the surprise – as he described it – came when interviewing several Egyptian undergraduate students in their final years.

He wrote: “I was blown away by the candidates from Egypt. They had strong fundamentals, demonstrated practical knowledge of modern tools, asked intelligent questions, and were fully prepared for the interview.

They dressed formally for virtual interviews and displayed remarkable politeness and professionalism.”

He added: “These Egyptian students were far more advanced – even compared to master’s degree holders in technology in India.”

Investing in Competencies: The Cornerstone of Egypt’s Digital Strategy

This testimonial comes in the context of continuous efforts by the Egyptian government to enhance the digital capabilities of its youth and boost the competitiveness of the Egyptian market in technology and outsourcing services.

Human resource development is a fundamental pillar of the state’s strategy, with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology aiming to train 500,000 trainees in 2025 through free training programs offered to all age groups and specializations.

This initiative aims to equip professionals capable of meeting the demands of both local and global markets.

Egypt also focuses on promoting a set of competitive advantages that make it an ideal destination for providing cross-border services.

These include an abundance of young talent, diverse digital and linguistic skills, lower operational costs, and a strategic geographical location.

The Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) plays a pivotal role through integrated initiatives.

These include attracting foreign investment, enhancing the competitiveness of local industries, and organizing recruitment and networking events that connect qualified graduates with sector companies.

ITIDA also works on designing and implementing advanced programs to build technical, linguistic, and personal capacities, aligning with the global market’s evolution and needs.

Egyptian Talent Proves Itself Globally

The Indian praise is not an isolated incident but adds to a series of international indicators reflecting Egypt’s emergence as a regional hub for digital skills and a distinguished platform for exporting technology services.

According to reports from international organizations such as Kearney and fDi Intelligence, Egypt holds a leading position in the cross-border IT services market, supported by advanced digital infrastructure and supportive government policies.

Amidst this momentum, Egyptian talent appears more ready than ever to lead digital transformation regionally and compete confidently on the global stage.
