“Egypt Surpasses Japan and Germany in Number of Annual Holidays”

A recent comparison among major countries has revealed that Egypt outranks nations such as Japan and Germany in the number of annual holidays granted to workers.

The average number of holiday days in Egypt reached 139 days per year, compared to 138 days in Germany and only 130 days in Japan.

This total number of holidays includes weekly and official holidays, as well as paid leave stipulated by the Egyptian Labor Law, placing Egypt at the forefront of countries in terms of rest granted to employees throughout the year.

According to the ranking, France and the UAE topped the global list with 145 days, followed by Saudi Arabia with 135 days, while the United States recorded 124 days and China 122 days.

In Egypt, workers receive two weekly days off (Friday and Saturday), in addition to 16 days of official holidays, including national and religious holidays such as Eid al-Fitr, Eid al-Adha, October 6th, and Sham el-Nessim. Paid leave ranges from 15 to 30 days annually, depending on years of service.

Egyptian laws also grant exceptional leave, including:

Marriage leave of up to two weeks.
3 days of leave for the death of a first-degree relative.
Maternity leave for women of up to 90 days.
Paid sick leave for up to 6 months.
These figures reflect the state’s commitment to achieving a balance between professional and personal life, contributing to improving the quality of life for employees and raising work efficiency and productivity.
