A recent report published by Fullstack Academy revealed the top five U.S. cities with the highest annual salaries for technology jobs in 2025: San Francisco, New York, Seattle, Austin, and Boston.
According to the report, a Data Scientist in San Francisco earns an annual salary of $159,600, compared to $150,300 for a Software Developer and $76,500 for a Cybersecurity Analyst.
The top three companies that hire tech talent in the city are Meta, Salesforce, and Google.
In New York City, a Data Scientist’s salary reaches $130,000 per year, compared to $148,100 for a Software Engineer and $104,700 for a Cybersecurity Analyst. Verizon, JPMorgan Chase, and IBM have the highest hiring rates.
In Seattle, the annual salary for a Data Scientist is $141,100, compared to $135,200 for a Software Developer and $88,100 for a Cybersecurity Analyst. Amazon, Microsoft, and Boeing are hiring top tech talent there.
In Austin, the annual salary for a Data Scientist is $130,300, compared to $103,800 for a Software Engineer and $99,300 for a Cybersecurity Analyst. Dell Technologies, Apple, and IBM hire tech talent in the city.
A Data Scientist in Boston earns an annual salary of $128,600, compared to $116,600 for a Software Engineer and $91,100 for a Cybersecurity Analyst.
