Egypt is making serious strides toward digital transformation. The government has announced the details of the National AI Strategy 2025–2030, which aims to solidify Egypt’s position as a leading regional hub in this vital field over the next five years.
The strategy targets a 7.7% contribution from AI technologies to the country’s GDP by the end of 2030. This will be achieved by expanding practical applications and fostering innovation to support the national economy.
The plan prioritizes human capital development by training 30,000 individuals annually in AI skills, in addition to qualifying 10,000 specialists to work in the sector.
The strategy also includes supporting over 250 startups working on AI solutions and technologies, which will enhance the entrepreneurial and innovation ecosystem in Egypt.
In a related context, the government is preparing to launch 10 research centers of excellence at various universities and research institutions.
The goal is to support scientific research and develop practical solutions applicable to sectors like healthcare, agriculture, transportation, energy, and the environment.
This includes implementing 50 real-world applied projects.
The state also seeks to double the number of internationally published Egyptian AI research papers by 2027, reflecting its desire to strengthen its global academic and knowledge presence.
These efforts are being led by several government entities, most notably the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT), the Applied Innovation Center (AITI), and the National Council for Artificial Intelligence.
This is all part of a comprehensive vision that aims to use technology to promote sustainable development and improve the quality of life for citizens.
