Before founding Trigent, Khatav was involved in a range of technical projects. He worked as a co-founder and CEO of Better Software Technology, a company specializing in the development of large-scale personal computer software.
Since 1982, he also managed Covid Systems, an engineering and technical consulting firm that provided services to well-known names such as DataGeneral, Compaq, and Thinking Machines, among others.
He also spent a part of his career at GTE Laboratories—now part of Verizon.
