Minister of Communications to “Ta3heed”: 14 international companies have centers outside Cairo.. and we aim to attract more investments

Dr. Amr Talaat, Minister of Communications and Information Technology, confirmed that the outsourcing industry in Egypt enjoys many competitive advantages that make Egypt an attractive destination for investments by major international companies operating in the industry, which contributes to achieving the ministry’s goals of increasing digital exports and enhancing the role of the communications and information technology sector in contributing to supporting and growing the national economy.

Talat explained in exclusive statements to the “Ta3heed” newsletter that achieving this goal depends on an integrated strategy that reflects the government’s ambitious vision to develop the outsourcing industry.

The strategy includes expanding the outsourcing services market by attracting more global investments, in addition to providing advanced services such as software, data analysis, and artificial intelligence.

He pointed out that the outsourcing industry extends to the governorates, as there are 14 of the largest companies in the world in the outsourcing industry that have centers outside Cairo, which reflects the spread of this industry throughout the republic and contributes to providing distinguished job opportunities for young people in the governorates.

The Minister added that developing human resources is one of the main axes for developing this vital industry, as hundreds of thousands of young people are trained annually through the Ministry’s programs and initiatives; explaining that it is targeted to train 500,000 trainees in various technological specializations during the current fiscal year, with a focus on the required global skills such as software development, cybersecurity, in addition to providing programs dedicated to honing the skills of independent professionals, and enhancing their competitive capabilities in the global freelance labor market.

He also hinted that enhancing the technological infrastructure is a top priority, through developing data centers to meet the growing global demand, improving the quality of Internet services, in addition to establishing new outsourcing service centers in governorates such as Assiut, Mansoura, and Alexandria.

It is noteworthy that the American company “Concentrix” for outsourcing, business services and call centers signed last Tuesday a memorandum of understanding with the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) with the aim of expanding its operations in Egypt by pumping investments into the local market estimated at about one billion dollars, and providing 16 thousand new job opportunities; bringing the total number of employees in the company to 35 thousand employees by the end of 2028.

A few days ago, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met with Christopher Caldwell, CEO of the American outsourcing, business services and contact centers company Concentrix, in the presence of Dr. Amr Talaat, Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Eng. Ahmed El-Zaher, CEO of the Information Technology Industry Development Agency, and Amr Sobhi, Chairman of Concentrix Egypt.

The official spokesman for the presidency indicated that the president praised the expansion witnessed by the company in Egypt, explaining that this expansion is in line with the state’s interest in strengthening the infrastructure in the fields of communications and information technology.

He added that the state has launched a number of training and qualification programs with the aim of enhancing and developing the competencies of digital cadres, especially young people, to prepare them to engage and work in companies operating in sectors related to communications and information technology, in addition to the state’s keenness to provide a package of investment incentives to attract global and local companies to work in Egypt, with the aim of improving the level of services provided and increasing the competitiveness of the outsourcing industry, within the framework of the “Digital Egypt” strategy.

In the same context, the Minister stressed that the Ministry’s strategy for developing the outsourcing industry depends on two main axes: the first is increasing the number of qualified workers to attract global investments, and the second is supporting independent professionals to provide job opportunities for young people within their villages and cities by working with global companies.

Egypt enjoys a prestigious global position as one of the most important leading locations in the outsourcing industry and a pivotal center for providing cross-border services to various markets such as the United States, Britain, most European countries, and the Middle East and North Africa region.

According to many international reports, Egypt is a preferred investment destination among decision makers in various fields of the outsourcing industry, as the global service centers established by companies in Egypt vary, including multilingual international call centers, IT and technical support centers, shared services centers, and centers in more in-depth specializations in the field of communications and information technology, such as research and development centers, embedded systems, electronics, semiconductors, and automotive software, which are witnessing increasing global demand; as Egypt enjoys competitive advantages related to efficiency, skills, and the abundance of specialized cadres in these fields.
