Transcom receives a notification from ITIDA regarding the new license.. and IGT Solutions seeks clarification
Ta3heed newsletter has learned that a number of outsourcing service companies operating in the local market are about to apply to the Information Technology Industry Development Agency to obtain an official license to practice the activity under the regulatory framework issued by the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority in cooperation with ITIDA.
Informed sources who refused to reveal their names said that the Swedish company Transcom received a notification from ITIDA about the need to apply for the license and intends to proceed with the implementation, while other entities, including IGT Solutions, contacted the authority to clarify more details and learn about the required procedures.
The sources explained that among the international companies that recently applied to the authority, Teleperformance has entered a late stage of discussions on the provisions of the regulatory framework for the industry, but its papers are still in the examination and study stage until now.
Dr. Amr Talaat, Minister of Communications and Information Technology, witnessed a few days ago the ceremony of granting the National Telecom Regulatory Authority licenses to establish and operate call centers for 7 of the largest companies working in this field.
The list included Vodafone International Services, Raya Contact Center Services, Telecom Egypt for Information Systems (Xceed), Concentrix, Capgemini Egypt, Genpact Egypt and TTIC Egypt.
Talat said in press statements that the relationship between the Ministry of Communications and outsourcing companies is based on the principle of successful partnership to improve the industrial climate in Egypt and enhance its position as a destination for global entities.
He added that the outsourcing industry is a huge industry worldwide, as there are nearly 200 international companies from different countries of the world working in the field of outsourcing in Egypt. This industry is also witnessing wide strides and companies’ interest in establishing centers in Egypt or expanding in it in light of the availability of many competitive elements in Egypt, including the competencies and trained human cadres.
