Spanish company Konecta has decided to establish its first global center of excellence in the field of generative artificial intelligence in Egypt, to be a regional center covering several markets.
In this regard, a memorandum of understanding was signed between the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) and “Konecta Egypt for Customer Service”, a subsidiary of the Spanish Konecta Group, which specializes in outsourcing services and digital customer experience solutions based on artificial intelligence, in the presence of Mr. Noureddine Behman, CEO of the global “Conecta” Group.
Under the MoU, Konecta Group will launch its operations in Egypt by establishing a new headquarters in New Cairo, which will serve as a regional hub for its services covering the Middle East, Africa, Europe and the Americas markets.
The group plans to invest around $100 million over the next three years, creating 3,000 specialized job opportunities to provide advanced digital and technical services including artificial intelligence solutions, digital transformation, big data analysis, the Internet of Things, technical support, and multilingual customer services (English, French, German, Italian, and Spanish).
Konecta will establish its first global center of excellence in generative AI in Egypt, where the company plans to transfer knowledge and expertise to Egyptian cadres in areas including Conversational AI, data analytics, and other emerging technologies.
Dr. Amr Talaat, Minister of Communications and Information Technology, stressed that the interest of international companies in establishing centers in Egypt to provide advanced digital services to their customers around the world reflects Egypt’s position as a global center for exporting digital services and outsourcing and one of the most prominent destinations preferred by international companies operating in this promising industry.
For his part, Eng. Ahmed El-Zaher, CEO of ITIDA, explained that this partnership represents a strong addition to the efforts to develop the Egyptian IT sector, and reflects the growing confidence of major international companies in Egyptian cadres, noting that this cooperation will contribute to providing various job opportunities including outsourcing business operations, IT services, and engineering research and development, with the Authority’s commitment to providing a stimulating business environment that supports expansion plans in global service centers.
