“Egypt Leads the Region in Automotive Software Industry”

Egypt is making steady progress in the automotive software industry. The government is collaborating with local and global companies specializing in developing and exporting automotive technology to meet market demands.

Companies like Valeo, Capgemini, Vehicle Evo, Sitec Solutions, and Luxoft are among the most prominent global companies operating in Egypt in the automotive technology sector.

The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, through its efforts and arms represented by the Information Technology Institute (ITI) and the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA), is working to cooperate with companies and train specialized cadres to qualify them for this promising market.

A few days ago, Dr. Amr Talaat, Minister of Communications and Information Technology, attended the graduation ceremony of the first batch of the “Android Automotive” Academy, which provides a pioneering training program in the Middle East in developing software and applications on Android automotive operating systems (Android Auto and Android Automotive), in cooperation with the Information Technology Institute (ITI), the global company Luxoft, and the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA).

This unique program has qualified 28 young Egyptians to become leaders in this promising field, as they have all been employed by Luxoft, which confirms the quality of the program and its ability to meet the growing needs of the labor market.

Dr. Amr Talaat, Minister of Communications and Information Technology, affirmed that the graduation of a batch of specialists in embedded automotive software embodies the effective partnerships between the public and private sectors in the communications and information technology sector to qualify youth for the jobs of the future by providing high-level specialized training in accordance with the latest technologies and coupled with practical application, working in parallel to enable them to obtain distinguished job opportunities.

Engineer Ahmed Al-Zaher, CEO of the Information Technology Industry Development Agency, explained that the automotive technology sector is witnessing radical changes and shifts towards software-defined vehicles, which requires trained cadres and continuous skill development to meet future technical needs.

He pointed out that the agency is working with global and local companies to identify market needs and enhance the growth of their businesses through specially designed programs, implemented in cooperation with partners from the public and private sectors.

In a related context, ITIDA launched the Qualification for Employment (Q4E) program, which is part of the Egypt Makes Electronics (EME) initiative supervised by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT).
