National AI Roadmap Supports Egypt’s Competitiveness in the Outsourcing Industry

Egypt is taking serious steps to adopt artificial intelligence as a strategic tool to support digital transformation.

This is being done through the preparation of a national AI readiness report, a collaborative effort between the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, UNESCO, and the European Union.

The report serves as a national roadmap aimed at adopting responsible and sustainable AI that balances innovation with the protection of rights and societal values.

The roadmap focuses on several key areas, most notably establishing modern legislation and regulations to curb algorithmic bias and ensure transparency in the use of smart applications.

It also aims to bridge the digital divide and promote technological literacy among different segments of society.

The plan also supports research, development, and education in AI, and seeks to maximize its economic benefits through diverse applications in the productive and service sectors.

At the infrastructure level, the plan includes expanding the development of computing capacities and communication networks to ensure Egypt can accommodate advanced AI applications.

Among the key recommendations in the report are: updating regulations to align with global developments, building an integrated institutional framework to oversee implementation, and training approximately 30,000 specialized engineers by 2030 to provide the human capital capable of leading this phase.

The outsourcing industry stands to benefit the most. These steps will enhance Egypt’s global competitiveness as a regional hub for digital services and improve the efficiency and quality of call center services through the integration of AI technologies.

The roadmap will also attract major foreign investments based on the strength of the digital infrastructure, in addition to ensuring the availability of qualified human resources capable of meeting the demands of global outsourcing companies.

With this approach, Egypt is solidifying its position as a key player in the global outsourcing market, relying on a combination of advanced technology, qualified human capital, and a clear national vision guiding a comprehensive digital transformation.
