The Egyptian government, represented by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, invested about $6 billion in developing the digital infrastructure network over the past six years, according to previous press statements by Dr. Amr Talaat, Minister of Communications.
This comes within the framework of plans to encourage foreign investments in the outsourcing services industry and bring foreign currency into the country.
According to data issued by the Ministry of Communications, there are 15.5 million homes connected to the internet in Egypt, with a service penetration rate reaching 74%.
Egypt’s ranking in average fixed internet service speeds has seen significant development across the African continent during the period from 2019 to 2025.
The service speed increased from $6.7$ Megabits per second (Mbps) in 2019 to $89.77$ Mbps in 2025, positioning Egypt at first place in Africa.
Residents under the age of 35 account for 64% of the total population in Egypt, with 51% male compared to 49% female.
There are also more than 130 universities across the Republic, graduating 760,000 students annually, including over 50,000 graduates from faculties of computers and information.
Egypt is also distinguished by having highly skilled human resources who speak more than 20 diverse languages.
