Cairo Courts Rome Through Outsourcing Services Gateway

Reflecting Egypt’s strategic direction to strengthen its international partnerships in the information technology and outsourcing sectors, Cairo has opened high-level communication channels with major Italian economic and technological institutions.

This initiative aims to seize promising investment opportunities and deepen digital relations between the two countries.

Rome, the Italian capital, witnessed intensive meetings held by Dr. Amr Talaat, Minister of Communications and Information Technology, with representatives of major Italian entities.

These included AlmavivA, a leading outsourcing company; Intesa Sanpaolo Bank, Italy’s largest banking group; and Confindustria, the General Confederation of Italian Industry, which represents over 170,000 companies.


Bilateral Trade Registers Remarkable Growth

The volume of trade exchange between Cairo and Rome reached approximately $6.6 billion in 2024, marking an 11.9% growth over the previous year.

Meanwhile, total Italian investment inflows into the Egyptian market amounted to around $21 billion by 2023/2024, through 1,328 Italian companies operating in various sectors, reflecting the depth of the economic partnership between the two nations.


Promising Market for Outsourcing Services in Italy

Market indicators in Italy open the door for strong cooperation opportunities between the two sides in the outsourcing sector:

  • BPO (Business Process Outsourcing) services revenue in Italy reached approximately $7.89 billion in 2024, and is expected to reach $14.56 billion by 2032, with a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 8.07%.
  • The contact center market recorded $3.31 billion in 2024, and is projected to reach $5.73 billion by 2030, with an annual growth rate of 9.6%.
  • In the field of information technology services, total revenue reached approximately €24.24 billion, with expectations to rise to €28.64 billion by 2029, at an estimated annual growth rate of 4.3%.

Egypt Strongly Presents Its Competitive Advantages

During the visit, the Ministry of Communications presented the incentive roadmap Egypt offers to outsourcing companies, which includes:

  • A strategic geographical location.
  • A developed digital infrastructure.
  • Qualified young talent capable of providing services in multiple languages.
  • Government support and specialized training provided by ITIDA (Information Technology Industry Development Agency).

During the meetings, it was agreed to organize extensive future meetings involving the Italian business community to promote the competitive advantages of the Egyptian market and facilitate the entry of Italian companies to invest in information technology and outsourcing services.
