How can the outsourcing industry become one of the most important sources of dollar income for Egypt?
How can the outsourcing industry become one of the most important sources of dollar income for Egypt?.. An important question we asked the experts, especially with the great growth taking place in the outsourcing industry and the boom it has witnessed during the recent period.
A number of IT workers agreed that increasing Egypt’s dollar revenue from the outsourcing services industry is dependent on a number of factors, most notably raising the added value of the industry, expanding the upgrading of human skills, and the government’s continued support, represented by the Ministry of Communications and the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA), for global entities to achieve their goals.
Mahfouz: It is necessary to raise the added value of the industry and encourage local software companies to export
Eng. Amr Mahfouz, CEO of Delta Electronic Systems and former Chairman of the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA), said that the added value of the industry must be increased to make it one of the important sources of dollar income in Egypt.
Mahfouz pointed out that the number of workers in the outsourcing industry must also be increased and the quality of education improved to increase the number of qualified cadres for the labor market.
The CEO of Delta Electronic Systems stressed the need to encourage local software companies to export their products abroad, but it is important to first pave the way for them to work locally in a way that qualifies them to market and spread their solutions abroad, which is one of the things that serves the industry as a whole and increases its dollar revenues. Mahfouz pointed out that in order for companies to expand into new markets, they must focus on selling integrated programs that are linked to artificial intelligence solutions instead of selling services only because that will make their revenues greater.
Taher: We must continue to support global companies..and control the movement of prices within the market
Engineer Amr Taher, General Manager of Luxoft Egypt, said that the outsourcing services industry is one of the sources of hard currency income for Egypt, as it contributes to attracting foreign investments to the country in dollars or euros from major global companies.
Taher explained that improving the ranking of the outsourcing services industry on the map of foreign direct investment in Egypt depends on the availability of two factors, the first of which is continuing to support global companies, which is actually achieved through the support of the Ministry of Communications, ITIDA, and the Information Technology Institute to encourage them to increase the number of their employees in the local market, which benefits the national economy.
He added that the other issue is related to the importance of controlling and monitoring the movement of prices of products and services such as renting company spaces, infrastructure and devices required to operate within the market by the competent authorities so that they can carry out their activity without any difficulties.
Kato: Technical skills and languages are the key.. and services must be exported to Africa and the Arab world
Eng. Ramy Kato, Vice Chairman of Telecom Egypt and Board Member of Exceed, stressed the need to focus on providing human competencies with technical skills and languages, especially since the coming period will witness an increasing demand for technical skills related to artificial intelligence technology and technical support services for applications. Kato pointed out that increasing Egypt’s dollar revenue from the outsourcing services industry requires targeting the markets of Africa and Arab countries that are being rebuilt and using trained Egyptian skills to implement their projects.
