Minister of Communications visits 6 countries in 9 months to attract new investments in the outsourcing industry
The “Ta3heed” newsletter monitored the most prominent shuttle tours and meetings conducted by Dr. Amr Talaat, Minister of Communications, during his foreign visits to a number of countries around the world during the first 9 months of this year.
This came to promote the competitive advantages that distinguish Egypt as a global destination for the outsourcing services industry, in an effort to attract more international companies to invest and establish call centers for them in the local market.
This comes in conjunction with a series of meetings held by the Minister with ambassadors of a number of countries in Egypt, namely Lithuania, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Singapore and Latvia, to discuss ways of cooperation in the fields of the communications and technology sector, including the outsourcing services industry.
February – UAE:
1- On the sidelines of his participation in the World Government Summit in Dubai, Talat meets with Mihailo Jovanovic, Minister of Information and Communications of Serbia, and sheds light on the various types of support provided to IT companies that Serbian companies can benefit from to encourage them to establish regional centers of excellence in Egypt to serve the Middle East, Africa and the United States, including call centers and IT service centers in the fields of software development.
2 – The Minister of Communications discusses with Khaled El Gebaly, President of MasterCard in the Middle East and North Africa region and Head of Operations in the Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa region, and a number of the company’s leaders; the company’s plan to expand the volume of business of its center in Egypt for outsourcing services.
3 – Dr. Amr Talaat discusses with Mariam Al Nuaimi, founder and CEO of Tafaseel Group, and a number of leaders of the Emirati group specialized in the field of business outsourcing; the meeting discussed Tafaseel BPO’s plans in Egypt.
February – Spain:
1 – Dr. Amr Talaat meets during his participation in the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona with Youssef Tayoub, CEO of Accenture Group for global operations specialized in business consulting and services; where the group provides advisory, strategic, technological and operational services through a wide global network of offices, service delivery centers and innovation centers.
The group is present in more than 200 cities in 51 countries to serve its customers in more than 120 countries.
May – Singapore :
The Minister of Communications meets with Josephine Teo, Singapore’s Minister of Communications and Information, on the sidelines of his participation in the Asia Tech Summit in Singapore, and confirms to her that Egypt has a base of young talents in the fields of technology, whose expertise Singaporean companies can benefit from in implementing digitization projects, or establishing outsourcing centers for them in Egypt.
June – Korea:
On the sidelines of the 10th Global ICT Leaders Forum, hosted by the Korean capital Seoul last June, Talat met with Harrison Hong Yong Bahi, Executive Vice President of Mando, a company specializing in manufacturing automotive components.
The meeting discussed the competitive advantages that Egypt enjoys in the field of outsourcing services, and the efforts made to encourage companies to invest in Egypt in this field in light of Egypt’s digital strategy to develop the outsourcing industry. The opportunities for the company to establish a research and development center in Egypt were also discussed.
July – China :
Minister of Communications Dr. Amr Talaat meets with Brighton Lee, Chairman of Tsinghua Unigroup, and a number of its leaders, and highlights the competitive advantages that Egypt enjoys in the field of outsourcing, most notably the abundance of young cadres and the efficiency of Egyptian engineers at a competitive cost, especially in the fields of electronic circuit design and semiconductors.
The efforts made to enhance Egypt’s position in the field of exporting high-value services were also reviewed in light of the efforts to make it a global center in these promising industries within the framework of the presidential initiative “Egypt Makes Electronics.”
September – Indonesia:
Dr. Amr Talaat, Minister of Communications, during his participation in the Second Indonesian-African Forum, calls on Indonesian companies to invest in the outsourcing field in Egypt and benefit from the competitive advantages that Egypt enjoys in this field.
September – USA:
On the sidelines of his participation in the session “Hope for Digitization – A Digital Future for All, Comprehensive and Meaningful”, which was held at the United Nations headquarters in New York City, the Minister of Communications discussed with Amal Gabal, Vice President of Startek for Customer Service in North America, the possibility of establishing a center for the company in Egypt to export outsourcing services.
