On the sidelines of his participation in the 113th session of the International Labour Conference in Geneva, Egypt’s Minister of Labour, Mohamed Gobran, met with Betina Schaller, President of the World Employment Confederation (WEC), and her accompanying delegation at the Egyptian Mission headquarters to discuss avenues of cooperation between the Ministry and the WEC in shared areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The two sides agreed to form a joint committee to communicate and explore signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Minister emphasized Egypt’s readiness to provide skilled and trained Egyptian labor, highlighting the continuous development within the Ministry of Labour to enhance the vocational training system in cooperation with the private sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This aims to qualify young people for professions needed by both local and international labor markets, granting them genuine professional practice and skill measurement certificates in line with the directives of His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Gobran clarified that the Ministry is prepared to meet employment demands with global skill standards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Minister reviewed some procedures related to employment, including ongoing preparations for the issuance of the National Employment Strategy and the establishment of the Supreme Council for Manpower Planning and Employment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This council will involve the government, employers, and workers in formulating general employment policy, linking employment to the needs of local and international labor markets, and verifying the alignment of work with a worker’s experience, skills, or academic qualifications through skill level assessment and professional licensing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Betina Schaller provided an overview of the capabilities and services of the World Employment Confederation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She praised the Ministry of Labour’s efforts in vocational training and qualifying youth for the job market. She noted that the Egyptian labor market is very promising, given its large workforce, especially among young people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Schaller indicated that the components of Egypt’s labor market are ready to adapt to the transformations in the world of employment and that it is attractive to investment, possessing all the ingredients for success, which explains the eagerness of international companies to invest there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
For his part, Mohamed El Darawy, a board member of the World Employment Confederation, affirmed the importance of cooperation with the Egyptian Ministry of Labour and opening communication channels to support workers at all levels<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He noted that the WEC will work to provide training and job opportunities for Egyptian labor in the countries within its scope, in coordination with the Ministry of Labour.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This came during his attendance at the meeting held at the Egyptian Mission headquarters in Geneva on the sidelines of the 113th session of the International Labour Conference, with Betina Schaller, President of the World Employment Confederation, her accompanying delegation, and Egyptian Minister of Labour Mohamed Gobran.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
El Darawy indicated that the WEC and the Ministry of Labour will soon draft an MoU to define the areas of cooperation between the two parties in the coming period, particularly concerning leveraging Egypt’s potential to export qualified and trained labor, especially to EU countries, for companies accredited by the WEC. He stressed that the Egyptian labor market is promising and can meet the needs of a large portion of the global labor market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
El Darawy also pointed out that there is significant interest from international companies to invest in Egypt, which will lead to higher growth rates and the creation of new job opportunities, thereby reducing unemployment rates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
